Our mission at Last Hope K9 Rescue is to save every possible dog we can from being euthanized within high-volume kill shelters throughout the United States
As the literal “last hope” of nearly every animal we serve, we work tirelessly to place each one within a stable, loving environment that can act as either their forever home, or the gateway to their forever home. We also strive to ensure that all of our adoptions and foster placements are the optimal fit for everyone involved, including our dogs. This leads to our second goal: enriching human lives through canine companionship. To us, you can’t have one without the other.
Our Founder, Rachele Huelsman, lost her best friend and beloved dog Titan a few months before starting Last Hope K9 Rescue. She has always been a dog lover, avid animal advocate, and an active volunteer in canine rescue.
After losing Titan she decided to honor his memory by saving dogs lives. Out of her love and dedication to her beloved friend, Last Hope K9 Rescue was born.
Most of the dogs we rescue come from New York, North Carolina, Arkansas and Georgia. Occasionally we get dogs from MA or surrounding New England states, but it's much less common. The main reason is because MA has spay/neuter laws. Canine overpopulation is significantly less problematic in this state. The states we rescue from DO NOT have spay/neuter laws. There are many more stray and unwanted dogs that need us to intervene to save them from being euthanized.
